Session Outline:
2 day workshop for teachers and administrators who work with students whose behaviour may require the use of restraint in their day-to-day management..
Participants should note that both PART and Team Teach have a broad application of restraint for all age groups. However, there are some ages that are more suitable to a particular approach.
PART restraint training is best suited to upper primary and high school students, as well as adults. Due to specific PART techniques being developed for adult client applications, generalisation of these to physically smaller clients (ie Lower Primary students) may be problematic and risky.
While Team Teach has physical interventions that are suitable for all student age groups, this approach is more applicable if you have junior primary students or primary Education Support students.
